FAQ
What is the difference between sorting words and sorting lines?
Sorting words splits all text by whitespace and alphabetizes individual tokens. Sorting lines treats each line as a single unit, which is ideal for bullet lists, CSV rows, or any line-by-line data.
Is the sort case-sensitive?
By default, sorting is case-insensitive so 'Apple' and 'apple' are treated as equal. You can disable this to perform a strict case-sensitive sort.
Can I remove duplicates while sorting?
Yes. Enable 'Remove duplicates' to keep only unique entries in the output. Duplicates are detected case-insensitively by default.
Can I sort in reverse alphabetical order?
Yes. Click 'Z → A' to sort in descending (reverse alphabetical) order.
Does it handle numbers and special characters?
Yes. Items are sorted using standard locale comparison, so numbers and special characters are ordered according to Unicode values.
Is my text private?
Yes. All processing happens locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
