What is EXIF data?
EXIF data is hidden information that cameras and phones embed in photo files, including the camera make and model, date and time taken, exposure settings, and sometimes the exact GPS location where the photo was captured. Photos can also carry IPTC and XMP metadata, such as captions, keywords, ratings, and author or copyright info, usually added by editing software.
Why should I remove EXIF data before sharing photos?
If a photo contains GPS coordinates, anyone who downloads the original file can see where it was taken. Removing EXIF, IPTC, and XMP data protects your location, device, and authoring information when sharing photos online.
How do I remove EXIF data from a photo?

Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Everything happens locally in your browser. Your photos are scanned and re-encoded entirely on your device and are never sent anywhere.
Does this work on PNG and WebP files too?
Yes. The tool checks PNG and WebP files for embedded EXIF and XMP metadata, not just JPG, and removes whatever it finds when the cleaned copy is generated.
Will removing EXIF data affect the image quality?
PNG output is pixel-for-pixel identical. JPG and WebP are re-encoded, so pick a high quality setting (the default is 92%) if you want no visible difference from the original.
What about HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Browsers can't decode HEIC/HEIF files directly, so this tool can't process them yet. Convert the photo to JPG or PNG first using your phone's share menu or our image converters, then upload the converted file here.
