Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert a HEX color to RGB?
Enter your HEX code in the text field or use the color picker. The RGB, HSL, HSB, and CMYK equivalents are shown instantly below.
What is the difference between HSL and HSB?
Both use hue and saturation. HSL uses lightness (where 50% is pure color). HSB uses brightness (where 100% is pure color). They are two different ways to describe the same color.
What is CMYK used for?
CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Key/Black) is used in print design. If you are sending a color to a printer or designing for print, the CMYK values are what your print shop needs.
Can I type a color name like 'orange'?
The tool accepts HEX codes in the text field. For named colors, use the color picker which supports named CSS colors, then read the HEX and converted values.
Why does my typed HEX not update?
Make sure to include the # symbol and enter all 6 hex digits (e.g., #ff5500). Partial hex codes will not produce a valid conversion.
Is the color converter free?
